To be classified as a Public Water System by the EPA a water system must have 15 services connections (e.g., households, businesses or schools) or serve 25 or more individuals daily for at least 60 days of the year.

Water Emergencies

BOIL WATER NOTICES ADVISORY

Historically, during winter storms, our public water systems sourced by surface water (creeks) have experienced high turbidity(cloudiness) resulting in boil water notice advisories. Turbidity has no health effects. However, turbidity can interfere with disinfection and provide a medium for microbial growth. Turbidity may indicate the presence of disease-causing organisms. Our systems continuously monitor for chlorine which provides disinfection with a daily field test to verify our monitoring equipment is working properly. If we experience a boil water notice the community will be notified in accordance with the Yurok Tribe Public Water Systems' Emergency Notification Plan. Please follow the CDC Boil Water Fact Sheet or contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
